Mindful Eating Coaching
I’m a Mindful Eating Coach, not the food police. Often we’re so afraid of someone finding out what we really eat that it keeps us locked in shame and guilt.
While I will push you to work hard, I’m here to support not judge you. We focus on your successes. If you change 50-60% of what you eat to pesticide-free vegetables, whole foods, free range, hormone-free meats – that is huge!
The Nourishing Life method helps you listen to your cravings and addictions in a new way: to get information about what your brain and body needs nutrient wise. You’ll learn the food/mood connection and how to manage or eliminate your cravings.
Example: Do you overeat when depressed or tired? Does your hunger increase late in the day, (a pattern typical of people who skip breakfast.)
Give yourself time. Recognize that lasting change occurs in small steps over time.

Mindfulness and Stress Reduction
The Nourishing Life method relies on mindfulness to help us slow down and simply observe patterns without attaching value judgments. Mindfulness can be very helpful as we begin to change old habits and reduce stress in our lives.
Attitudes of Mindfulness
- Being conscious and present to yourself
- Knowing what you’re feeling
- Understanding how you see yourself
- Knowing what you want/need
- Learning how to ask for help
- Living in your body as well as your head
- Learning how to manage stress, in all its manifestations
- Learning how to nurture yourself in more ways than just eating
Adapted from “Full Catastrophe Living” by Jon Kabat-Zinn
Change Processes
You can only begin where you are. Key to understanding where that is, the Stages of Change theory by James Prochaska, Ph.D. and C.C. DiClemente, authors of Change for Good. The Stages-of-Change Model recognized individuals move through various stages when making a behavior change. Introduced in 1983, this model is used by organizations including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Cancer Institute, and American Medical Association.
The 6 Stages of Change are: Precontemplation, Contemplation, Preparation, Action, Maintenance, and Relapse.
